Smarty Ears has a new app to share, Verb Quest! It has a magical theme that is perfect all year round.  The app has lots of features to customize so you can fit it to your student’s needs.

It is super easy to set up.  Just enter in your students’ information and select them.  You can adjust the target level for your students depending on what they are working on.  There are 20 different levels of verb tense forms for students to work through. That’ a lot of practice!

Students will be given a sentence and a corresponding picture.  The app will read the sentence to them and the student must drag the correct word choice to the blank. If it is correct it will give the student a choice to record the sentence with the correct word. I really liked this option. It is so helpful for students to hear themselves using correct word forms.  If they choose the incorrect word, they will hear a low tone.

After they finish a level there, is an option for the student to do a few more question at that level for practice or move on to the next level.

Once you are finished, just tap DONE and you will be taken to the REPORTS section.  You can see student data by session or level.

Overall

Verb Quest fills a need for an app that targets verb tenses. It is very comprehensive with lots of different areas that can be targeted.  The app also allows you to customize the activities to your student.  I loved the real pictures they used to pair with the sentences and the option to record the phrase with the correct verb tense is great!  You can download a copy of Verb Tenses for $19.99 on iTunes.

Smarty Ears provided me with a copy of the app to complete the review. The thoughts and opinions are my own.

Smarty Ears has also been so generous and provided me an extra copy to raffle off!  Enter below for a chance to win.  A winner will be chosen on Friday!

  1. The first reason I’d love to have this app is because it’s a Smarty Ears app (No brainer), so you know it’s going to be fantastic!
Another reason I’d love to have this app is that it will fill a much needed gap in activities to help my students who are working on syntax.

  2. I like this app because it makes working on verbs FUN! This is great for those kiddos who need a LOT of repetition. It provides another way to get those reps in!

  3. I would like this app a lot if I could win it. I don’t have a spare 20 lying around for a verbs-only app, but the magical theme is appealing. It looks like it has many details incorporated into it as well.

  4. Oh, my gosh–where to begin?Smarty Ears apps are some of the most awesome and amazing apps out there! They are fun for students, and students ask to play them. They look like games and hold interest. They take DATA for us! They can import into the Therapy Report Center and help us with progress monitoring. Verbs are such a need for so many students, and this app belongs in all of our ‘toolboxes’–I would just love to have it!

  5. Totally love using Smarty Ears apps in speech therapy! They are well designed with customization for multiple users & great data collection. Plus the kids love them. I work as a SLP at a non-profit pediatric hospital that has little-to-no budget for apps so I greatly appreciate app giveaways as a way to get apps to help our patients. Thanks 🙂

  6. I like the 20 different levels in this app. Seems like I could target the majority of my students’ language goals with this app also! Thanks you! And the data is provided?! Awesome idea!

  7. I like that you can save the student’s info between each time thy play but also love the new way to address Verbs in a motivating way for my students!

  8. I would love to win this app. I have a TON of Smarty Ears apps and I have never been disappointed. I would love to win and app and save some money. 🙂
