Stories are more than just tools we can use to teach inferencing and predicting. Stories can also help to teach life lessons.  Fables are stories that usually have animals for characters and convey a moral.  These types of stories are great for all ages and lend themselves to be used to work on many topics.

They can be used for…

– Inferring

-Predicting

-Summarizing

– Social Skills

– Describing ( characters )

– etc.

I recently found some great, FREE fables for the iPad.  With my students, if it is on the iPad, it has their attention. Here are the link to the stories.

Super Power Speech also knows how wonderful fables can be.  She had created RtI units for fables that are fantastic! Make sure you check out her post HERE!

Have you used any fables in your speech sessions?
