‘R’. The phoneme that can strike fear into any SLP! Virtual Speech Center has developed a new app to help you target this tricky sound. With a fun arcade theme and a variety of games, your students will have a blast working on their sounds.

You can adjust the settings  to display text, auditory reinforcement for correct/incorrect responses, and to add to a custom word bank.

Just add the students name and select which game to play: Flashcards, Memory,  or Bingo. A great feature is that as you play students can record their productions for self-analysis.

After you choose your game select the /r/ phonemes you want to target. I loved how the app has specific /r/-blends to target instead of general /r/-blend category.

Once your done simply tap Finish and you can review the progress from your session. You can also review data by phoneme targeted or date.

What I Liked

This app had choices for different games which is great to keep my students from getting bored. I love the ability to record students and play it back for them. Having them work on identifying good productions from poor ones is always difficult and this will definitly help.  I was so happy to see that there were /r/-blends sorted out to choose from instead of an /r/-blend category.
