Today for,What’s Up Wednesday, I wanted to share a new book companion with you.  So run and run as fast as you can, you’re going to want to catch this Gingerbread Man.

The story of The Gingerbread Man is one of my favorites. Maybe it’s the story, maybe it’s the excitement, maybe it’s the fact that the main character is a cookie. But, for many reasons I am excited to share this book companion for this classic tale.  This companion has 46 pages of activities and materials to help expose your students to literature and target their speech and language goals in an applicable way. I know it is a BIG packet but when I create materials I like to be able to use them with as many different students, in as many ways as I can. I want something that I can use all day. It takes about 5 minutes to read the story straight through which leaves me 25 minutes to target goal with these activities. This companion was made to be paired with The Gingerbread Man by Carol Ottolenghi.

There is an included mat that explains story components and a game board to add some extra fun.

This packet has matching card sets for synonyms, antonyms, irregular past tense verbs, rhyming words, and verb tenses. There are also worksheets for each activity so that students can write down the pairs…

There are cards for story sequencing, comparing and contrasting using venn diagrams, context clues, and a mat with character cards that can be used for basic concepts and following directions.

I really wanted to have levels with WH comprehension questions so that I can use them with students at various levels.  The cards come with and without picture cues to help you provide the right amount of support and challenge for your students. There are also predicting and inferencing mats.

There is a general roll and color reinforcement mat, articulation reinforcement mat, two writing mats to practice answering questions and syntax, and a mat to target pragmatics.

To check out this activity, stop by TpT.
