How do you incorporate working on conjunctions into your speech session so it's meaningful? ⁣

I stumbled across this book at our Spring book fair, it is hilarious and follows a great narrative structure.⁣

It is also perfect for introducing informational conjunctions such as ‘but’. This little 'unicorn'🦄 is going through a bit of an identity crisis which creates a lot of differences and contradictions he has to examine in an adorable way. ⁣

🤔Are you writing the right goals for expressive language? Do you want your students to learn conjunctions or how to use them?⁣⁣

We usually know what we want our students to be able to accomplish once we have determined the root of their deficit, but too often goals for the symptoms end up in the IEP😓⁣⁣

When it comes to expanding expressive language, write goals for the end results i.e. creating a compound sentence, understanding that you will be teaching the conjunctions as part of the process so that doesn't really need to be it's own goal. 💡⁣⁣

I give you sample goals and the data rubrics in the Compound Sentence Sidekick if you are worried about taking those steps with tracking in your sessions.⁣⁣

Expanding sentences, both orally and written, used to be super frustrated for me!⁣

I had the hardest time figuring out how to get my kids to connect to the words, understand how they fit together, and then put it all together!⁣
-⁣
After trial and error we ( my kids and I ) figured out that:⁣
🧠 Visuals are neccessary⁣
🧠 Color coded system help with order⁣
🧠 Understanding word purpose and use is worth the time⁣

I made sure to put it all into this scaffolded, progressive resource so you can get right to working on goals with your kids and seeing progress.⁣
