Teletherapy, distance learning, and remote learning are the new buzz words these days. Since in person speech therapy isn’t possible right now, our profession has made a shift to the virtual realum of service delivery, basically overnight!
Thanks to Teachers pay Teachers, BOOM Cards, and more the whole ‘what the heck am I going to use for materials’ part of the job is pretty well taken care of. The data collection on the other hand, not so much.
Many of us still need to collect percentage data for our own notes, reports, evaluations or for billing. There are a few digital data tools out there, like SWIVEL, that can definitely help you to track correct and incorrect productions during your live sessions, but if you need something a bit more open-ended it isn’t as easy. This is where Google Forms can be a life saver.
Google Forms is one of the options that you have access to in your Google Toolbox, that’s what I call it anyway. It’s the square grid in the upper, right corner on your Google account. Google Forms allows you to create quizzes, surveys, worksheets, and so much more.
There are templates already to go for you too which helps to take the guess work out of a lot of things. Just pick the kind of form you want and create! You can do quizzes with multiple choice or open-ended answers.
Here are some ideas:
- Use as a way for students to mark completion of an assignment
- Use to collection writing samples for students
- Use to assess comprehension
- Use as progress monitoring of goals.
There are so many more options but these might be some of the main ones you can use right now to get the information you need. You can create one form and then assign it to the student’s you need.
