🤔Are you writing the right goals for expressive language? Do you want your students to learn conjunctions or how to use them?⁣

We usually know what we want our students to be able to accomplish once we have determined the root of their deficit, but too often goals for the symptoms end up in the IEP😓⁣

When it comes to expanding expressive language, write goals for the end results i.e. creating a compound sentence, understanding that you will be teaching the conjunctions as part of the process so that doesn't really need to be it's own goal. 💡⁣

➡I like to start with fiction because it is a bit more engaging and catches my kids attention a bit more ➡then move to a non-fiction book next time that has a tie into the fiction one.⁣
