November is here! That means it’s time to talk about Pilgrims, family, and pumpkin pie. I love using seasonal and themed activities in my speech room. It helps kids understand the vocabulary and information that they will be hearing about for the next month. What I don’t like: the time it takes to prep it all. As my caseload has grown, I have less and less time to laminate, cut, and organize. So I took matters into my own hands and made this new packet, No Prep November and Thanksgiving Speech Activities!
This packet has 50 pages of activities that have a either a November, autumn, or Thanksgiving theme. That way, you can save the super cute holiday pages for the week before or the week of Thanksgiving and still use the activity pages with the November/autumn theme for the rest of the month. I hate having to wait to use cute activities. 😉
This packet has activities for the following areas: Articulation, Following Directions, Basic Concepts, Categories, Synonyms, Antonyms, Vocabulary, Irregular Past Tense Verbs, Describing, Comparing and Contrasting, Multiple Meaning Words, Pronouns, Inferencing, Predicting, and Comprehension.
Oh, there are also two different themed game mats for you to use and reinforcement, two different Do-a-Dot pages, and a general Articulation page.

So cute! However, I’m just curious if any one else feels this way (especially with Christmas coming soon), I am starting to feel guilty using Holiday activities with my speech friends in the school setting. Am I the only one? I have more and more friends that don’t celebrate Holidays. It is so hard because I have it drilled into my brain that November is dedicated to all things “Thanksgiving” and December is for “Christmas,” ect. For example, should we make November all about the solar system and famous scientists in December???
Thanks for your kind words. You do raise a good point about our friends who do not participate in certain or any holidays. This is when I like to use books that are general and not seasonal themed. The idea you had about the solar system in November and then Famous scientist in December is a not progression and keeps things ‘neutral’. You could also highlight community helpers, different animal groups, etc. I like to use my ‘Any Book’ Book Companion in these situations because it can pair with all of those great fiction and non-fiction books and still help to target their goals.
