A few weeks ago I was contacted by Cara Tambellini Danielso, a fellow SLP,  and offered an opportunity to review a book she had written about early speech sound development.  Of course I said yes!

easy 1

This book was written for SLPs and parents to help expose their children to final consonant words that occur in everyday activities. The title Easy-To-Say is a great fit because all the final consonant words targeted are one syllable, perfect for little ones or young children working on developing their final consonant productions.  The final consonant groups covered in this book are words ending in /p/, /t/, and /k/.

easy 2

There is a section of the book with some helpful tips about how to use the book when reading it will your kids.  Most of the tips are things we often forget about that can have a big impact on children’s engagement and responses.

easy 3

The illustrations in the book are adorable! They are colorful without being distracting and show the word being targeted in action.

easy 4

The words are presented in repetition and then used in a sentence. This is a great way to have the students hear the sounds and the word being used in context with a visual to support it. The sentences illustrations offer a lot  of fun interactive therapy opportunities. You can give the prompt, ‘Can you hop like the bunnies do?’ and have the child show off their hopping skills as they produce the word for example.

Overall

This book is adorable and full of word prompts!  The illustrations are super cute with just the right amount of color and detail for young children.  The guide in the book offers some great tips about how to use the book when you are reading.  If you know someone in Early Intervention ( E/I  ) or have a baby shower coming up, this would be make awesome gift! If you want you a copy for yourself, and who wouldn’t, you can head over to Amazon and snag a copy of your own.

* A copy of  this book was provided for review purposes. No other form of compensation was provided.  The thoughts and opinions are my own.
