I am thankful for many things this year. My family, a  job I love , and all of you.   So to help get your kids in the Thanksgiving day spirit I have added a new Thanksgiving themed language activity, A Cornucopia of Language.

A Cornucopia of Language

This packet contains activities for basic concepts, describing, following directions, synonyms, antonyms, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Slide33

Students can work on their basic concepts by placing the turkey in the correct position that correlates to the pilgrim girl.  There are color and black and white versions of this activity.

Slide55

There are two pages for describing. An organizer and then a paragraph writing sheet. The organizer would be great to use with the Expanding Expressions Tool ( EET ).

Slide100

Slide111

Students can work on following directions by making sure they put  the right foods on the plate in the correct order.

Slide155

There are 8 vocabulary words for students to learn.  Students need to match the picture to the meaning.  After students match a picture and meaning they can color a portion of the Thanksgiving day feast.

Slide200

There are 8 pairs of synonym and antonym cards for students to pair up. After they have matched the cards, they may complete  the original story by replacing the words in parenthesis with either a synonym or antonym.

Slide255

There are 16 comprehension cards.  Each card contains a short 2-3 sentence passage and a comprehension question.  Feel free to create some of your own questions too!

Slide266

Finally, there are 4 category plates: Meats, Fruits, Vegetables, and Desserts.   Students look through the list of items and  draw the items that belong in that group on the plate.

You can stop by my TpT store to add this activity to your speech room.
