Today I am joining Speech Room News’s Love It and List It Linky Party to share my favorite language apps with you.

Make sure to stop by Speech Room News to see what other apps are at the top of bloggers lists.

I love using my iPad in therapy, it is engaging for the kids and easy for me. Here are my top apps…

1. Language Adventures

This is probably my favorite app to use with my 1st-3rd graders. I can use it to target several goals at once and the students love the board game element to it.  One of the things I like the most about it is its question presentation. Questions are not presented in a typical ‘What is a word that means the same as fast?’ format.  They are given a statement or scenario that the question prompt is tied to. For example, “Your teacher talks about how the sun is shining bright in the sky.  What is the opposite of day?”  I find this presentation to very applicable.

2.  Language Empires

This is a great app to target some of those areas that are hard to find resources for: sequencing, figurative language, vocabulary, as well as, comprehension.  It has real life pictures for all questions and the ability to choose varying difficulty levels.

3. Reading Camp Comprehension

Comprehension is a tough area to find resources for.  This app has 5 different levels of stories and roughly 10 stories per level.  Students can read or listen the stories then take quizzes about the information.

4. School of Multi-Step Directions

Following directions is an area lots of my students have goals for.  This app has lots of different levels for students to work at. The ability to manipulate items that are familiar is great too.  After students answer X amount of questions they can play a ping pong game.
