I lost track of how many hours I spent working on this activity, but I will tell you, it was worth every minute! Initially, the activity started out much smaller and just seemed to evolve as I got ideas. Now, 256 cards later, I give you Pronouns in Candyland! Here are some pictures and information 🙂
I am really excited about the reinforcement games for this packet. There are two levels of games based on the ages of the students. Candy Castle is for students K-2. Each students get a Candy Castle mat. The mat has small reference pictures on the left hand side. Students must collect one of each picture to decorate their castle to win. There are several pictures so that students can get as many pronoun attempts as possible. Candy Showdown is for students in grades 3-5. You will use the Sticky Sucker cards for this game. As students answer cards correctly they keep them. If they answer incorrectly they put them into the middle. If they draw a Sticky Sucker card they may go again. When time is up or all the cards have been chosen students may pair up. This game is similar to slap jack. Students take turns flipping cards onto the same pile. When a Sticky Sucker card comes up, the first student to slap the card wins. This continues until one student has all the cards.
There are 32 cards for each of the 4 pronoun target areas.
There are 32 cards for each of the 4 pronoun target areas. Once students are successful with multiple choices you can increase the difficulty level by having them move to Candy Corrections. Here, students read the sentence and determine is the pronoun is correct or not. If not, they must state what the correct pronoun is to keep the card. The more cards they collect the more chances they have to win in Candy Showdown.
