I love to do hands on activities whenever I can.  This new craftivity will make working on /s/-blends more fun than going through flash cards.  You will just need a paper plate ( the cheapy ones work best ), some paint or crayons, and glue!

Slide1

Have the student  say the word on each square. Students can then color the picture on square or glue it to the paper plate. Once students have glued all of the squares onto the plate, they may color the snail body.

You may want to use googley eyes or pipe cleaners ( for antennas ) as extra decoration. Once the body is colored, students can glue the body to the paper plate, aka snail shell. You may also staple the body to the paper plate.

You can download this freebie from my TpT store HERE.

* Here is a little tip when it comes to glueing the pictures onto the paper plate, aka snail shell.  Make a glue sponge container for kids to rub the paper on instead of dragging out glue bottles or glue sticks.  Here is a video from Kindergarten Smorgasbord who shows you how to make your own.
