Aside from our speech tables, the next place we spend the most time at work is at our desks.  I don’t know about you, but sometimes that laminated wood can get a little boring to look at.  So this year I decided to dress up my desk!

Contact paper and vinyl decals will be your new BFFs!  They are removable and won’t damage the surface they are on. There are tons of patterned contact paper options out there now.  You can find wall decals just about everywhere now too.  I recommend you pick the decal you like first then find a contact paper that goes with it.

I found this cute wall decal at Target for $10.  I decided to go with a white background so the colors would pop a bit more. I got basic white contact paper from Home Depot for $7.  The teal desk caddy I got from Staples last year, it’s part of the Martha Stewart collection.

This is the finished result! This will be a lot more cheery to look at while writing reports this year 🙂

  1. I love this so much! Do you have any advice for decorating the front of the desk? (Outside of the privacy panel side). Do you think contact paper would be ok on the front (and sides) as well?

    1. I haven’t done the front before but know people who have had a hard time getting it off the metal. You could do some fabric on the front or tape wrapping paper, that is another option I have seen.
