I have been thinking about all the goals my students have and how I want to target certain things in the new year. I have many students with describing goals, so this has been consuming  a lot of my thoughts.  Many of them can tell me what category its in and what it does ( most of the time ), but that is where it stops. We use the Expanding Expressions Tool ( EET ) which is fantastic ( more on that in a post coming soon ), but they still have difficulty giving more detail.  Then I had an idea, they need to attach the describing word to something tangible to make the connection. So I started on make a describing box.  Here is a picture of my work in progress.

I am using a medium sized tupperware box that I found in our cabinet, sandwich size ziploc bags, aluminum foil, and a sock to start. Each item will go into a sandwich bag that can be labeled with what it is and some potential describing words for it.  The foil can be shiny, the sock can be soft and bumpy since it has the rubber gripping dots on the bottom.  I plan I adding a piece of sandpaper for rough, some cotton balls for fluffy, a plastic spoon for smooth, a crayon for waxy, etc. I will show you the finished product when its complete, but I wanted share the beginnings with you.
